Search Engine Optimization Process (SEO Process) - Competitor Analysis


In this step of search engine optimization process, we estimate the strong point & weak point of the competitors. The competitor analysis is very helpful to understand their online marketing strategy, how they are working to attain a good ranking on search engines. Competitor Analysis also helps in developing our strategy against our competitors.


For competitors analysis first you have to select the websites coming on the best rank for keyword phrase on which you want to get rank. Now analyze both on page and off page factors which play a key role for your competitor’s good search engine page ranking.




Now we have to analyze the following factors for competitor analysis:
• Keyword Phrase Analysis which your competitor is using.
• Analysis of link structure.
• Analysis of source code.
• Navigation Structure.

Keyword Phrase Analysis which your competitor is using.

Analyze the keyword phrases of competitor’s website what keywords they are using and where they are using these keywords? What is the frequency of the keyword phrase has been used? Keyword Phrase Analysis of competitor’s website helps you to select the right & unique keyword phrases and gives you an idea for right placement of the keywords.

Analysis of link structure.


In this step of competitor’s analysis analyze the competitor’s link structure gives the information about the links your competitor’s website has and how many they are? For this you can take the help of various available back link analyzer tools. You can analyze the links from which the competitors are getting traffic.


Analysis of source code.

In this step of competitor’s analysis examine the source code of the competitor’s website. For this right click on the home page of their website and click on view page source. Now examine the text link, description tag, anchor tag, title tag and heading tags (H1, H2, and H3) etc.View how many times text link containing the keyword phrase, determine the structure of description tag and title tag how the keyword phrase utilized in it ,observe how keyword phrase used in the H1,H2,H3 tags.


Navigation Structure.


Examine the page navigation structure and how they used the key phrase in navigation. Because you can often increase page relevance by accumulating the key phrase in the wording of your links.

Now after determining the tactics which are responsible for increasing the search engine traffic, it is time to applying all those strategies to your own website.

I've realized that there is so many different factors weaved into seo services and competitor analysis is probably something many people forget about, being too concerned about their own success I would assume.
